How Are High Blood Pressure and Tooth Loss Connected?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to a study by the University of Buffalo,\nresearchers found a link between high blood pressure and tooth loss in postmenopausal\nwomen. The study was published in the American Journal of Hypertension<\/em>,\nand it looked at more than 36,000 women in the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Completing an initial assessment of their gums in 1998,\nparticipants were monitored through 2015, on a yearly basis, for any new cases\nof hypertension. The results showed a clear connection between tooth loss and\nincreased risk of high blood pressure among women who were postmenopausal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although there is yet to be a clear reason for the increased\nrisk, they concluded that a change in diet may be closely associated. Researchers\nalso believe that in order to lower the risk and prevent tooth loss, improved\noral hygiene practices, blood pressure monitoring, exercise, weight loss, and\nimproved dieting are necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
